NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Metro Nashville police conducted a dog-fighting raid Tuesday at two north Nashville homes, during which more than three dozen dogs were seized.

WKRN News 2 reports that officers raided homes located in the 3500 block of Pewitt Rd. off Kings Lane and Clarksville Pike following last week’s arrest of one of the homeowners, Michael Davis. He was arrested in connection with a large-scale cocaine and heroin trafficking bust.

Metro animal control found 38 dogs, mostly pit bulls, chained to trees in the woods behind his home. Many of the dogs had scars and open wounds, and were examined by a veterinarian at the scene.

Treadmills and other items used in dog fighting operations were found in the homes.

The investigation is ongoing.
