CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Three teens were arrested Monday in a series of car break-ins that may have involved 20 vehicles.
On Monday, Clarksville Police were notified of a vehicle burglary that had already occurred in the 2100 block of Memorial Drive, according to a news release from CPD spokesperson Scott Beaubien.
The three suspects then tried to use credit cards that were taken out of an unlocked vehicle, Beaubien said.
A short time later, Clarksville Police responded to reports of a vehicle burglary in progress on Alexander Boulevard. The same three individuals, all 18 years old, were found and detained.
Items such as stolen ID cards, wallets and even a firearm were found in their vehicle, Beaubien said.
Beaubien said several more vehicles were broken into in the area, and the teens were responsible for approximately 20 vehicle burglaries. Not all of the vehicles had property taken, Beaubien said.
“This is why we emphasize the importance of ‘Park Smart,’ locking your vehicles, securing your valuables and taking your keys with you,” Police Chief David Crockarell said in the news release. “All of the vehicles that were broken into tonight were unlocked, and one of them had a firearm.”
This is an ongoing investigation. All three suspects were booked into the Montgomery County Jail.
