CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Cases of COVID-19 in Montgomery County are slowly trending back upwards, with 57 new cases of the virus reported Monday.
While the county is testing more, according to the Austin Peay State University COVID-19 dashboard, there are currently 254 active cases in the county. This number is similar to what the county saw in the middle of September, when active cases peaked at 265.
These numbers still pale in comparison to the numbers from August when the number of reported active cases spiked at 1,034 prior to the state changing its active case calculations.
Last week, the emergency order requiring employees of businesses open to the public to wear masks was lifted in Montgomery County, with the exception of the general public entering a county-owned facility.
COVID-19 numbers
Here are the updated Montgomery County numbers as of Monday, Oct. 5:
- 3,139 total confirmed cases since March 6
- 254 active cases
- 124 total hospitalizations
- 46 total deaths
- 42,731 total negative lab results
And here are the numbers from the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System, which were updated Sunday, Oct. 4, on their respective dashboard:
- 25 students with confirmed cases
- 379 students in quarantine
- 9 school employees with confirmed cases
- 21 school employees in quarantin
- 166 CMCSS employees on COVID-19 related leave.

Free COVID-19 testing is offered by the Montgomery County Health Department in a temporary location at Civitan Park, 650 Bellamy Lane, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Friday. Follow the signs to the drive-up testing site.
