MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A 2-year-old was killed and another person was injured in a crash involving a Chevy Impala and a cement mixer on Highway 76 Tuesday morning.
According to a report from Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Impala was traveling west on Hwy 76 when it crossed the center line and made contact with the cement mixer. The driver of the cement mixer did apply the brakes, but it was not enough to avoid the collision.
The cement mixer came to rest on its side across both lanes, and the Impala came to rest on the right side of the vehicle in the grass.
The driver of the cement mixer, 43-year-old Dexter McDaniel of Clarksville, was injured.
The 28-year-old driver of the Impala, Terrance Harris of Oak Grove, Ky. was injured. His 19-year-old passenger was not injured, but the 2-year-old passenger was killed in the crash.
Criminal charges are pending. Alcohol was not a factor in this crash.
