CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The storm that passed through Clarksville on Tuesday brought two tornadoes, both EF0, on different sides of town, according to the National Weather Service in Nashville.

The first tornado touched down at 5:08 p.m. along 101st Airborne Division Parkway, the NWS said. It carried 75 mph winds, and its path was 100 yards wide and 9.41 miles long. It moved northeast, causing minor tree damage in neighborhoods north of Purple Heart Parkway. Several trees were uprooted near Britton Springs Road and Norris Drive. It crossed Highway 41A, then lifted at 5:19 p.m. north of West Creek Middle School and south of Tiny Town Road.

The second tornado began at 5:25 p.m. starting along East Old Ashland City Road. It carried 85 mph winds, and its path was 200 yards wide and 3.21 miles long. It downed a few trees and moved northeast, uprooting more trees and causing minor house damage north of Madison Street. The tornado lifted at 5:28 p.m. prior to reaching Trough Springs Road, the NWS said.

Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency Director Ed Baggett told Clarksville Now that 53 homes were “affected,” meaning they had damage to gutters or siding, for example. One house had minor damage. Minor damage could be shingles torn off or a small hole in a roof. No homes had major damage.

“We were very lucky,” Baggett said.
