Update, Sunday, 9:40 a.m.:  The suspect shot and killed by police after exchanging gunfire on Hedge Apple Drive Saturday night has been identified as 54-year-old Adonis Traughber, according to a news release from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

No officers were injured during the exchange.

The TBI’s investigation is ongoing, and findings will be shared with the 19th District Attorney General John Carney for review and consideration, the release said.

Update, 10:15 p.m.: Clarksville Police shot and killed the man after he shot a woman and then fired at officers, according to a news release.

At about 8:15 p.m., police responded to a domestic call in the 1000 block of Hedge Apple Drive, where a woman had been shot, according to Detective Michael Patterson.

When police arrived, the man opened fire on them, Patterson said. The officers returned fire, hitting the man, and he died from his injuries.

The woman was transported to the hospital and her condition was unknown.

At 10:15 p.m., CPD was awaiting the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to respond and take over the investigation.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Two people were shot, one of them during gunfire with police, Saturday night on Hedge Apple Drive.

At about 8:30 p.m., neighbors heard police yelling at someone to put down a gun. Then they heard two shots, then a barrage of gunfire.

Emergency responders were working to treat the injured man’s wounds.

Police told neighbors that a female inside the home was shot, but with non-lifethreatening injuries. The man then came outside the home and exchanged gunfire with police, neighbors said.

A woman was being removed from the home by EMS.

Clarksville Police were not immediately able to confirm the chain of events.

Hedge Apple is off Needmore Road, just north of 101st Airborne Division Parkway.
