HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – Two people have been arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop in Hopkinsville Sunday night.
According to police reports, the traffic stop was conducted on N. Main Street due to a cancelled license plate.
The driver, 63-year old Jerry Hayes of Hopkinsville, gave the officer consent to search his vehicle. The officer found a digital scale with marijuana residue that had been disguised as a CD. He also found a bag of methamphetamine in Hayes’ boot, according to the report. The man allegedly admitted to “snorting a line every day.”
The passenger of the vehicle, 33-year old Renee Gydesen of Crofton, gave a false name to the officer before admitting she had prescription narcotics. The officer found a straw with white residue and a syringe next to her seat in the vehicle.
Hayes was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving without registration. Gydesen was arrested ans charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and giving officers a false name.
