CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A 19-year-old man was arrested over the weekend and charged with aggravated assault for a crash with injuries that occurred on September 28.

According to an arrest warrant, Dean Curtis Oliver of Palmyra was driving a 2000 Chevy Tahoe on Jarman Hollow Rd. in Montgomery County at a high rate of speed. The posted speed limit is 45 mph.

Five other people were in the car with Oliver and authorities said all of them were under the age of 18 and none were wearing seat belts.

After going off both sides of the road in a no-passing zone near a curve, the Tahoe crossed into the other lane and hit a Ford Crown Victoria. The driver of the Crown Victoria was transported by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt Medical Center with debilitating injuries, including a broken pelvis that will require long-term recovery in an in-patient facility, according to the warrant.

A girl in the front passenger seat of the Tahoe was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and sustained serious injuries.

Authorities said the Tahoe had a license plate that did not match the vehicle and had been altered with a renewal year sticker for another vehicle.

Oliver was charged with aggravated assault and falsifying plates. His bond was set at $60,000.
