FORT CAMPBELL, KY (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Family and friends gathered at Sabre Army Airfield Wednesday afternoon to welcome home 164 soldiers with the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade of the 101st Airborne Division.

The Wings of Destiny soldiers were returning from a nine-month deployment serving in the Middle East.

Command Sgt. Maj. Aaron Stephens, with the 1st Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, talked about being home.

“It feels great, I’m glad to see my family. It’s been nine months and a long time coming, but we’re happy to be home,” Stephens said.

Another soldier, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Elijah Kay, was seeing his son Luke for the first time since he was 3weeks old.

“It’s unreal at this point. I’m just ready to really start learning who he is now, I’m just happy,” Kay said.
