CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett was in Clarksville Tuesday, October 8 to make an announcement about plans to distribute a new educational resource to schools throughout the district.

Hargett introduced a video documentary covering the history behind the Tennessee State Capitol that will soon be appearing in classrooms throughout every school in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System.

Director of schools Dr. BJ Worthington joined Secretary Hargett, State Senator Mark Green, State House Speaker Pro Tempore Curtis Johnson and State Representative Joe Pitts in the school system’s board room for the presentation.

Montgomery County is the first county in the state to receive the video documentary. The Tennessee General Assembly requested that the Secretary of State’s Office produce the documentary and copies of the DVD will be distributed to school districts in all of the state’s 95 counties.

The Secretary of State talked about the importance of the video to students. “It means every student has the ability to visit the State Capitol without physically being in the Capitol. The idea is to bring the State Capitol to everybody in the state so if they can’t make it, it will come to them,” said Hargett.

The documentary can be viewed online from the Secretary of State’s website at www.capitol.tnsos.net.
