According to original reports of the story, Allen filed a warrant for simple assault against Lewis after he said he would be ‘waiting outside’ for Allen after the meeting.
Clarksville Police Sgt. Charles Gill was working security at the meeting and reported that he personally followed Lewis outside after the meeting and stood between the two men while they exchanged words again. In a supplemental report, Sgt. Gill stated, “At no time was either man in immediate threat of physical violence so there was no probable cause for an assault arrest.”
The simple assault warrant is a citation, and Lewis will not be booked.
