CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A local 15-year-old has hit the streaming screen with a role in the Netflix movie “The Out-Laws,” released June 30, which reached No. 2 in the U.S. on the streaming channel.

John Wesley Randall plays Aaron in the comedy adventure movie with stars such as Nina Dobrev, Ellen Barkin, Adam Devine and Pierce Brosnan. He has also appeared in the movie “5,000 Blankets,” marking two feature-length films in his young career.

John began acting at the age of 13. He attended Richview Middle School and is now enrolled as a sophomore at a boarding school in New England.

Growing up, John always loved to make people laugh, whether in the classroom, on the stage or in a school play. “Unfortunately, I think my teachers can attest to that,” John said.

After signing to Tribe Talent in Nashville, John has been able to land a multitude of roles including voiceover work.

“When I first got into acting I thought it was only movies, TV and commercials, but there’s a lot of types of work out there,” John said.

The young actor has also had parts in smaller projects. One was a Nashville-based project used for educational purposes. It was used as a tool for healthcare workers to share with child patients.

He also starred in a 2022 short film, The Arbors, about two kids, Walker and Noahm who form an unlikely friendship. The film was nominated as a quarterfinalist in the Vancouver Independent Film Festival as well as a semifinalist in the San Francisco Indie Short Festival, Madrid Arthouse Film Festival and Palm Spring Shorts.

John was also involved in an industrial film in Franklin for a faith-based homeschool curriculum, playing a character called Dash Smash’em. “I go in for a day and film a bunch of scenes and then I come back and film another set of scenes,” John said.

As young as he is, John works with a child labor coordinator on set to make sure he gets enough breaks and dedicated time for school work. “Sometimes I’ll have to take a day off of school to film but I balance it all pretty well,” he said.

During his off time he likes to be active outdoors whether that be by playing lacrosse, participating in ski racing or going sailing.

Looking up to actors like Jim Carrey, John aspires to be a film actor. “My mom and my brother are big supporters of me,” John said. “My whole family has been super great and they have made sacrifices to help me. I’m super appreciative of it all.”
