CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A 13-year-old girl was shot following a fight among groups of children at Summit Heights Sunday night.
At about 8:06 p.m., Clarksville Police were called to a shooting in the neighborhood, according to police spokesman Scott Beaubien. Officers patrolling near Summit Heights heard gunfire and quickly responded.
Several people told police there were groups of juveniles, between 12 and 16 years old, who got into a fight. After the fight was over, someone fired shots from down the street. While officers were trying to speak to victims and witnesses, CPD was notified by Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville that they were treating a 13-year-old girl who had a non-lifethreatening gunshot wound to her upper leg. She was transported to Nashville by ambulance for further treatment.
“This does not appear to be a random act since most of the individuals involved are familiar with one another,” Beaubien said.
No further information has been released.
