CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- Northwest High School’s Courtney Teague was recently selected to be a member of the Hiwassee College Lady Tigers Softball Team.
Courtney began her softball career at age four. In her younger days, Courtney participated in recreational softball at Stokes Field here in Clarksville, TN. She played softball for Northwest High School for three years and has played travel ball for three years as well.
In addition to playing softball Courtney is an active member of National Honor Society, Beta Club, National Technical Honor Society and Show Choir all while maintaining a 3.5 GPA. While at Hiwassee, Courtney plans to study Allied Health. She is most excited about attending school at Hiwassee because she is looking forward “to being more independent” and being a member of the Hiwassee Lady Tigers Softball team because “they all get along really well and treat each other like family. I am looking forward to being a part of that family,” says Teague.
Hiwassee Head Softball Coach, Ethan Carroll, stated, “We are excited to have Courtney on the team. As far as pitching goes, she is a lefty, so it will bring a different view to the batters that will help us out a lot. Right now all I have is “righties,” so with her being left-handed, it is going to be a really good thing for us.”
Northwest High School Athletic Director, Jessica Peppard, stated, “I am proud to see Courtney be given the opportunity to play at the collegiate level. She is one of the hardest working students in the building. She takes some of the toughest classes we offer and has even taken college courses in her summer as well. I know she will bring the same level of focus toward academics and athletics with her when she begins her college career at Hiwassee. We are very proud of her accomplishments.”
