Fort Campbell, KY. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) It was so foggy at Campbell Army Airfield Sunday morning that you could hear the plane but you could barely see it as it landed with 120 soldiers from the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB) as they returned from deployment.
The “Wings of Destiny” soldiers with the 2-17th Cavalry Regiment were deployed for nine months serving in Operation Spartan Shield in the region covering Kuwait, Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan.
Deputy Commanding General for Support, Brigadier General Todd Royar, praised the soldiers for their mission. “They did the division proud, they did the brigade proud and did the squadron proud and they’ve upheld the standards of this great division,” said Royar.
Chaplain, Major Jeff Pyun, was asked about being home. “It’s wonderful, it’s wonderful to see all the friends and families and it’s really just great,” Pyun said.
