The county commission, by law, will vote to appoint a qualified resident of Tennessee’s 22nd State Senate District to fill the vacant position until a special election is held.

Those seeking the appointment were required to provide a valid driver’s license, current voter registration card, resume, and a letter to the commission requesting to be considered for the position.

Those who did not submit details by the January 2 deadline must present the requested information at the January 14 commission meeting so it may be validated. A vote will not be taken by commissioners until information from all nominees is reviewed. Candidates must be residents of District 22 to be considered.

Once the Governor signs and issues a Writ of Elections, a primary election will be held between 55-60 days and a general election between 100-107 days from the day the Writ is signed.
