American Red Cross disaster responders from across the state continue to provide relief and comfort to Tennesseans as they recover from the storms and tornadoes on December 23.

The National Weather Service confirmed that four tornadoes touched down throughout the state.

The tornadoes occurred in Linden, Lutts, Wayne County, and Dekalb/Smith County, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries.

A total of 31 local Red Cross staff and volunteers worked on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to provide relief to affected areas, with more joining to help this weekend. The Red Cross Emergency response vehicles are driving through storm-damaged neighborhoods, delivering food, water, and clean-up supplies such as bleach, mops, gloves, rakes and shovels.

A Red Cross office in Lawrenceburg, TN is open and offering assistance those who need it at 181 Prosser Rd.

“It’s heart-wrenching to see the destruction this storm has caused,” said Red Cross Disaster Program Manager, Larry Crowell. “Red Cross workers are here now, providing food and comfort, and we’ll be here in the days and weeks to come to help people begin to recover.”
