NASHVILLE, Tenn. – An 11-year-old boy was shot Saturday in east Nashville after getting caught in the crossfire from a fight next door.
WKRN News 2 reports that Keon Malone was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center for surgery. His condition was not released.
The shooting occurred around 2:15 p.m. in the 100 block of Fern Avenue after a fight broke out in a multi-unit home.
Metro police said the fight began when three women arrived at one of the units and went inside. Another woman began kicking in the door and demanding for her friend to come outside.
Someone inside then opened the door and opened fire.
The women fled but came back later with three men who shot at the house before leaving again with the women.
Malone was hit by a stray bullet while standing in the doorway of one of the other units.
The investigation is ongoing.
