Fort Campbell, KY. – Two buses arrived at Fort Campbell Thursday night carrying a total of 42 Soldiers, the first returning from being deployed for just over three months to West Africa as part of Operation United Assistance in the fight against Ebola.
The Army says the soldiers had recently completed the 21-day controlled monitoring at Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Virginia. The 21-day controlled monitoring began as soon as the flight carrying the soldiers left Africa.
Family and friends gathered at the Hangar 3 at Campbell Army Airfield to greet the soldiers who are members of Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), 101st Sustainment Brigade and the 86th Combat Support Hospital.

One soldier, Sergeant Brett Johnson talked about being back home. “It’s amazing, finally back with the family. I had a good time actually out there helping a lot of people. So, time is here now to spend with my family and get ready for our next rendezvous,” said Johnson.
Another group of soldiers is scheduled to return on Tuesday, January 27.
