Fort Campbell, KY. – The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) will host a Color Casing Ceremony to officially mark the division headquarters’ deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. The ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, February 25 at 1:00 p.m.

The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) headquarters, stationed at Fort Campbell, Ky., will deploy to Iraq and Kuwait with approximately 500 Soldiers for a nine-month rotation.

The 101st Airborne Division headquarters will assume the role of Combined Joint Forces Land Component Command-Iraq, replacing the 82nd Airborne Division headquarters.

In that role, the division headquarters will provide command and control of coalition troops and training, advising, and assisting Iraqi Security Forces.

Approximately 1,300 Screaming Eagles with the 2nd Brigade Combat Team “Strike” are also scheduled to deploy later this spring in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. Soldiers with the brigade will also advise and assist Iraqi Security Forces.
