Fort Campbell, KY. – Around 15 soldiers with the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB) “Wings of Destiny”, of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) were welcomed back to Fort Campbell Tuesday, December 8. Another flight of about 20 soldiers was set to come home Tuesday afternoon with returning flights also scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, December 12 & 13.
The soldiers are returning from a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel. Captain Cassie Bonadeo summed up her thoughts on returning, “it feels great to be back home finally”, said Bonadeo. The main body of the redeploying 101st CAB soldiers are expected to be coming home later in December and into January.
