FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Fort Campbell has confirmed that troops of the 101st Airborne Division will deploy to the U.S. southern border. A statement from the army said the division will send soldiers and equipment to assist the Department of Homeland Security after President Donald Trump ordered troops to the border.

Fort Campbell statement:
“As directed by the Department of Defense through Army headquarters, the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) is deploying Soldiers, equipment and resources to assist Department of Homeland Security along the southwest border.
Military personnel will provide a range of support including planning assistance, engineering support, and logistics and transportation support.
U.S. Northern Command will be in the lead for the duration of the operation and is in support of Customs and Border Protection.”
The mission has been dubbed Operation Faithful Patriot.
On Tuesday, the President referred to the migrants fleeing poverty and violence in Central America as an “invasion.”
