Contributed commentary from Bridgett Stanfill, Grandmama’s House event coordinator:
I just wanted to reach out one more time and tell each of you, thank you for your media coverage on the Holiday of Hope Toy Drive targeted for families that were impacted by the Clarksville tornadoes in December 2023.
Because of the generosity and kindness of people locally and as far as California, New York, Alabama and Kentucky, over 100 children from 55 families were able to experience the magic of receiving gifts at Christmas. Families were offered gift wrapping services from onsite volunteers. Children who attended the event with their parents were able to visit with the Grinch, Santa and Ms. Claus. Pastoral staff from Salem Community Church was on standby offering prayer and a coloring station for children. Achieve Medical also attended the event, offering families basic necessities and care products for families.
A special thank you to all of the families and volunteers from Grandmama’s House of Preschool and Child Development, Child Care Resource and Referral, Sigma Chi Eta Xi chapter at Austin Peay State University and Hiller Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, that donated so generously and volunteered their time to make the event a magical success. We sincerely appreciate all of their generosity and time dedicated to the event.
Jeff and Bridgett Stanfill of Grandmama’s House expressed, “The event was very special. We appreciate all of the generosity of the community and are thankful to be able to help aid these families in need.”
Additionally, Mike Dial, volunteer and associate of Hiller Heating and Cooling stated, “This kind of event and seeing the happiness on these faces makes even the Grinch’s heart and mine grow three sizes! It really puts you in the Christmas spirit.”
