Update, 9:40 p.m.: Northington turned himself in to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office a short time ago and is being booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a charge of homicide, according to CPD.
Update, 9:28 p.m.: Detectives with the CPD Special Operations Homicide Unit have identified 20-year-old Zyaire D. Northington of Clarksville as the suspect. This afternoon, Detective Green obtained a warrant for Northington’s arrest, and CPD is requesting the public’s assistance in locating him. Anyone with information regarding Northington’s whereabouts is urged to call 911 immediately.

The investigation has determined that the incident between Northington and Castro was a specific and isolated occurrence, and not a random act of violence.
“The Clarksville Police Department would also like to remind the public that anyone who assists a fugitive from justice could face criminal charges,” Beaubien said.

Update, 1:45 p.m.: The victim, 20-year-old Kamren Castro, was pronounced dead after arriving at Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville, according to CPD. Next of kin notifications have been made.
“This appears to be an isolated incident. Detectives with CPD’s Special Operations Homicide Unit are actively working to locate the suspect,” Beaubien said.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A young man was shot Tuesday night at an apartment complex on Ringgold Road, and despite an overnight search, the suspect remains at large.
At about 9:35 p.m., Clarksville Police responded to a shooting that had already occurred at Parkview Place Apartments, 495 Ringgold Road, according to Officer Scott Beaubien. Officers arrived to find a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound. He was transported to Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville by ambulance.
Officers are searching for a possible suspect described as a Black male with shoulder-length dreads, wearing gray sweatpants and a hoodie, Beaubien said. Residents in the immediate area are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
Tuesday morning, detectives and crime scene technicians were also processing a scene on Ringgold between Brentwood Circle and Ishee Drive.
The condition of the gunshot victim has not been released.
