NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Metro Nashville Police say a person has been killed after tractor-trailer crashed into a home.
The truck ran off the roadway a little before 4 a.m. Wednesday, traveled through the yard and struck the brick home located in the 2800 block of McGavock Pike. Photos of the scene showed part of the trailer sticking out of the house.
The victim, identified as 66-year-old Carol Boo, was inside her bedroom when the truck came barreling through the yard and struck the home, according to News 2.
Several others were in the home at the time of the accident, but no other injuries were reported.
The truck driver, 34-year-old Leonard Wilson, also was not injured.
McGavock Pike is closed while investigators try to determine how the crash happened.
News 2 reported that Crews are draining the fuel from the truck before removing it from the house, which suffered a great deal of damage. They are being cautious due to concerns the home may collapse when the rig is towed out.
The reason why the truck left the roadway is not known, though Wilson said the trailer began to wobble causing him to lose control.
Police, however; said there is no overt evidence at the scene that Wilson lost control of the trailer. Police also said there are no brake marks on the road.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the mechanics of the truck, as well as the tires and the driver’s log book.
There is no indication that Wilson was impaired at the time of the crash. He consented to a blood test.
Authorities said the semi was hauling 40,000 pounds of pumpkins.
No charges were immediately filed.
