CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville City Council voted Thursday to postpone buying the old Bank of America property downtown at 215 Legion Street. The vote was 6-5 to postpone the ordinance until the next regular meeting of the City Council.

Some council members had questions about what plans the Montgomery County Commission had for the purchase of the property. At their informal non-voting session Monday, August 3 the commission discussed buying the property and making it into a Civic Plaza.

City Councilman Wallace Redd is also a County Commissioner and he said the county wants to buy the property. “The county is poised to purchase this land, I believe they are going to do that and they are poised to put the park there,” Redd said.
