ELKTON, Ky. – A 14-year-old Todd County Kentucky boy suffered burns after a gasoline can exploded Saturday night. According to Officer Rodney Moberly with the Elkton, Kentucky Police Department, it was originally reported that the boy was making a bomb. “That’s what the initial call was, but It turned out to be two 14 year-olds messing around with a gas can and they tried to light it with a lighter, that’s all it was,” said Moberly.
One boy was burned on his hands and arms after spilled gasoline on his hands caught fire and his arms were burned after the gas can ignited. The one victim was taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and his condition is not known. Moberly said there were three 14 year-old boys at the scene but only two were involved with trying to light the gas can and there was no criminal activity involved so no charges have been filed.
