NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Tennessee Titans announced Tuesday they agreed to contract terms with quarterback Marcus Mariota.
Mariota was the team’s first-round selection in the 2015 NFL Draft and 2014 Heisman Trophy winner.
“We are glad to have the deal with Marcus done, and I’d like to thank both Marcus and his representatives for their diligence in working with us to finalize this contract,” said Titans Executive Vice President and General Manager Ruston Webster.
Hailing from the University of Oregon, Mariota received a number of other accolades as a redshirt junior last season, including winning the Maxwell Award and being named Player of the Year by the Associated Press and the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
Native of Honolulu, Hawaii, the 6-foot-4-inch, 222-pounder was also honored with Davey O’Brien National Quarterback and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm awards as the nation’s top collegiate quarterback.
“Thank you to the Tennessee Titans organization as well as my agent for making a dream come true,” said Mariota. “I am very grateful and honored to have this opportunity. I look forward to the future with my teammates, and I’m truly excited to be part of this team.”
