NEW YORK (WKRN) – ABC News reports that escaped murderer David Sweat has been captured.

Sweat escaped from a New York maximum security prison more than three weeks ago.

Officials say he is “under the control of law enforcement” and his condition is unknown.

Richard Matt, who escaped with Sweat, was killed Friday by a border patrol SWAT team in Elephant’s Head, New York.

Matt and Sweat escaped through the back of their conjoined cells using power tools on June 6. They were serving time at the Clinton Correctional Falicity in Dannemora, New York.

More than 1,000 officials were involved in the search for the two inmates.

Matt was serving 25 years to life for kidnapping and killing a man in 1997, and Sweat was serving a life sentence for killing a Broome County sheriff’s deputy in 2002.
