HOPKINSVILLE, KY. – The Hopkinsville Police Department (HPD) has announced the end of its investigation into an incident involving HPD K-9 “Eddie” biting a child at Millbrooke Elementary School on May 15.

After a thorough investigation and analysis of K-9 “Eddie”, Hopkinsville Police Chief Clayton Sumner has removed the K-9 from the police force to make sure there are no other incidents with the dog.

The officer handling “Eddie” has also been disciplined for failing to maintain control of the K-9. Chief Sumner said, “We realize the public must have trust and confidence in HPD and we work had to maintain that trust. We take very serious our K-9 unit and will remain committed to ensuring proper handling as we continue to protect and serve the community.”
