CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A number of state, city and county agencies have come together for a planned Doing Business with Government Workshop to help inform, educate and inspire businesses to work closer with local government.
The workshop is set for Friday, April 24 from 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Montgomery County Veterans Plaza, Civic Hall. The workshop is an opportunity for minority-owned, women-owned, service-disabled, veteran-owned and small businesses looking for government business.
The Clarksville Human Relations Commission, the Governor’s Office of Diversity Business Enterprise and the Montgomery County Legislative Delegation are sponsors of the workshop. Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett talked about the workshop.
“The Doing Business with Government Workshop is a great way for local business and individuals to get a better understanding of the bidding process and see where opportunities for their businesses may fit into government needs,” said Durrett.
Some of the other agencies involved include the City of Clarksville Purchasing Office, Clarksville-Montgomery County School System Purchasing Office, Austin Peay State University Contracts Office and Fort Campbell Procurement
Tennessee State Representative Joe Pitts also commented on the workshop. “The real purpose for the workshop is to build capacity among our small business community. To give it information on how to do business and when they do business, how to do it effectively,” Pitts said.
