ELKTON, KY – A small aircraft crashed into a cornfield in Elkton Tuesday afternoon injuring one.
The pilot and a passenger were doing “touch and go’s” in an older model, single engine plane at the airfield when the plane lost power.
According to Deputy Barnett of the Todd County Sheriff’s Office, the plane took off and then lost power. After banking hard to miss some trees it came down hard and the propeller hit the ground which flipped the plane over.
The pilot, Circuit Court Judge Tyler Gill was taken to Gateway Medical Center. The passenger, Jerry Humble of Russellville walked away with only scratches. Gill and Humble are both experienced pilots.
The crash occured only a few yards from the grass airfield located on Davis Mill Rd. in Elkton, KY.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
