CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – To help the American Red Cross ensure a sufficient blood supply this season, the Austin Peay State Univeristy (APSU) Student Nurses Association (SNA) and Kappa Alpha Order (KA) will host a blood drive on April 8th and 9th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the FOY Fitness and Recreation Center on Marion Street.
“Donating blood takes about an hour of your time and could help save up to three lives,” said Ashlee Dover of APSU’s SNA. “I challenge my fellow students to roll up a sleeve and give blood at our upcoming drive. Donating blood is an easy way to volunteer, and it helps patients in need,” said Drew Large of APSU KA.
APSU’s students, faculty, staff and alumni are encouraged to download the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to make an appointment to donate using the sponsor code APSU. For more information about the drive, contact Ashlee Dover (901-786-3648).
About donating blood
All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent in some states), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
