CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A 13-year-old boy and his family received a special surprise this week during Ryan and Gretchen in the Morning on Q108.
Parker Ensing has severe autism and finds comfort in music when he is struggling or having an outburst. His mother Dana and father Kyle let him listen to the Q108 app on their phones so he can tune in to listen to Ryan and Gretchen’s show.
“He got in the habit of listening to it,” Dana said. “They (children with autism) have outbursts, and you actually have to find something that calms them down and can control their behavior. So we found music with Parker. He has control of that.”
Dana said she and her husband have been saving up to buy an iPad for Parker so he can listen to the show on his own device.
Parker and his family were invited to the studio to meet the duo and take a tour. What happened next was a complete surprise to them.
After hearing Parker’s story, Delton Dowker, owner of Cellphone Repairs, presented Parker with his very own iPad air while the family was live on air with Ryan and Gretchen.
“I don’t think you realize how many people you guys touch. We appreciate you guys,” Dana said.
