CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A dump truck carrying gravel struck a car Thursday morning on Purple Heart Parkway near Evans Rd.

According to a news release, the truck was traveling eastbound around 7:18 a.m. when it hit the driver side of a four-door car traveling northbound on Evans Rd.

The dump truck rolled over on its side, dumping gravel onto the road and coming to a rest in the westbound lanes of Purple Heart Parkway.

The driver of the four-door car was transported by bus to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the dump truck had no reported injuries.

The eastbound lanes were reopened just before 10 a.m., but the westbound lanes remain closed while crews clear gravel from the road.
