CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A Clarksville couple has been arrested and charged with child abuse after police discovered bruises on their son’s face.

According to arrest warrants, police were called to a local elementary school in reference to allegations of possible child abuse March 22.
The warrant states that a detective observed a “severe bruise” on the boy’s right cheek.

The child told the detective that his “daddy”, 29-year-old Bradley Bowen, hit him in the face three times because he let his feet touch the floor while doing flutter kicks. Bowen was allegedly standing over the child at the time of the incident as if he were going to drop a glass plate on the victim.

Bowen confessed to striking the child, saying that he did it because the boy told him he was not going to do flutter kicks anymore.

The detective asked the child if he was afraid of his mother and “daddy” and he said that he was.

The boy’s mother, 25-year-old Lindsey Tovias, confessed during an interview that she also hit her son in the face because he was talking back to her. She told the detective that she did not hit her son very hard and that he “bruises easily.”

Bowen and Tovias were arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse and neglect. Their bonds were set at $25,000 each.
