Evelyn Miles Davenport, age 90, of Clarksville, TN, went to be with God on January 30, 2015.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Davenport-Tanley (Rick) of Nashville, TN; and her son, William C. Davenport (Vickie) of Clarksville, TN.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her mother, Oulie Shaw Miles and father, Walter Frank Miles; six sisters; and four brothers.
Evelyn worked at Blanchfield Army Hospital as a LPN under Civil Service for almost 30 years, spending most of that time in the OBGYN unit. She was an active member of First Christian Church, and later on, an active member of the First Baptist Church’s Joy Luck Sunday School Class, and Women on Missions. She was a choir member and used her nursing skills to volunteer at the Good Samaritan Clinic for eight years after her retirement and, during that time, received four Volunteer of the Year Awards. She also participated in the Senior Legacy Loving Touch Ministry. She was a former member and Worthy Matron, Clarksville Chapter of the Eastern Star. Her passions were visiting friends in hospitals, nursing homes, and friends who were home-bound. She enjoyed fishing, but she loved baseball. She could talk with anyone about anything baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves.
Evelyn was a kind and loving person to everyone she met, and she will be greatly missed by her family and those who crossed her path.
Celebration of Life service will be held at noon on Tuesday, February 3 at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday, February 2, and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Tuesday, February 3 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Adams, Don Mathis, Bill Sykes, Bobby Adams, George Tanley, and Luther Tanley III.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local American Heart Association; or to Alive Hospice, 1710 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203.
