CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Police Department (CPD) discovered a potential meth lab after responding to a fire in the 300 block of Church St. Monday morning.

According to a news release, Clarksville Fire Rescue and CPD were called to the scene around 11:45 a.m. where two suspects were allegedly burning stolen copper. One of the suspects had a warrant on file and was detained.

Detective William Gilboy was then called to the scene to determine if there was stolen property at the residence and found meth-making materials in the basement.

The 19th Judicial District Drug Task Force was called and took over the scene. According to Jamie Dexter, Interim Public Information Officer with MCSO, the Drug Task Force did determine that items related to meth manufacturing were inside the home.
