CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and in Montgomery County as well as across the nation people will gather to remember all those who have been affected and even lost their lives to domestic violence.
In Clarksville the annual Remember My Name is a free event open to the public on Saturday, October 11, from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at Veteran’s Plaza, 350 Pageant Lane in Clarksville near the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library.
The “Clothesline Project” from Centerstone will feature hundreds of T-shirts on display created by victims of domestic violence. Dozens of community agencies will also have booths available with information about their contributions to the community.
You can show your support to help stop domestic violence by bidding on items in the silent auction. Proceeds from the auction will support SafeHouse, the local women’s shelter in Montgomery County. There will also be a Kid’s Workshop from Home Depot.
There will be complimentary food and drinks while supplies last and Corvettes of Clarksville will host a car and truck show. Remember me is sponsored by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Daymar Institute and Walmart.
For more information about Remember My Name you can contact Deputy Peggy Macias at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at (931) 648-0611 extension 13400 or visit the Sheriff’s Office web site at www.mcsotn.org.
