HOPKINSVILLE, KY – The sixth annual Trot for the Troops 5K/10K will be held on September 13th, 2014 at the Hopkinsville YMCA. The race aims to bring together Hopkinsville and the surrounding communities and show support for our service members.
Trot for the Troops is a part of Christian County Salutes Fort Campbell week and a “thank you” to our Fort Campbell soldiers. This event is included in the Eagle Challenge Fitness Tour which provides fitness opportunities to increase levels of resiliency and fitness for soldiers, their families, and citizens in the surrounding communities of Fort Campbell. Last year was a huge success with more than 500 participants.
Trot for the Troops has three races for all age groups and fitness levels. The 1 mile fun run is a non-competitive race and the 5K/10K are competitive races with electronic tag timing. The races occur on a certified course starting and finishing at the Hopkinsville YMCA. The 1 mile fun run will begin at 8 a.m. and the 5K/10K will start together at 8:30 a.m. Check-in for participants will begin at 6:30 a.m. on race day.
Pre-register online at Active.com or at the Hopkinsville YMCA before August 28th to receive an early registration fee. The 1 mile fun run will cost $10 and the 5K/10K will cost $20. After the 28th the 1 mile fun run will cost $12 and the 5K/10K will cost $25. To register the day of the race, the 1 mile fun run will cost $15 and the 5K/10K will cost $25, with no guarantee of a t-shirt.
All proceeds from the race will benefit a Fort Campbell organization. So come out and support our troops.
