CLARKSVILLE, TN – The Montgomery County Health Council, in partnership with RePlant Clarksville and the Clarksville Arts & Heritage Council, invites artists and artist teams to submit concepts for a public-art treatment for the pedestrian crossing at the Crossland Avenue entrance to Veterans Plaza.
Successful applications will include ideas of how artists will work with community volunteers to complete the final project. Applications will be accepted through Monday, Sept. 14.
The project is part of Clarksville Walks, funded through a $25,000 AARP Community Challenge grant supported by Toyota. The goal is to use public art to enhance an existing pedestrian crossing, increase its visibility, encourage drivers entering the parking area to slow and pay attention, and create a welcoming gateway into Veterans Plaza.
The Veterans Plaza Crosswalk Artwork is part of a larger set of improvements along the Crossland Corridor from Pageant Lane to Richardson Street the grant will fund.
