CLARKSVILLE, TN – A new Veterans Memorial Mural honoring the men and women of the United States Armed Forces has been completed in downtown Clarksville as part of the City of Clarksville’s Colors and Concrete public art project.
Created by local artist and U.S. Army veteran Fred Seghetti, the large scale mural pays tribute to those who have served in every branch of the Armed Forces, with special remembrance for those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
At the center of the mural is the iconic Fallen Soldier Battle Cross, surrounded by a world map and the seals representing the six branches of the Armed Forces: the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard. The memorial carries the words: “All Gave Some, Some Gave All.”
“For me, this was much more than painting another mural,” Seghetti said. “As a veteran, it was an opportunity to create something permanent for our community that honors everyone who has worn the uniform and remembers those who never came home. I’m grateful to the City of Clarksville for giving me the opportunity and providing the paint and materials needed to bring the memorial to life.”
Seghetti also expressed his appreciation to the VFW Post 1913 Auxiliary for its financial support of the project, as well as the many Clarksville residents who stopped to watch the mural develop, offered encouragement, and followed its progress from beginning to completion.
The Veterans Memorial Mural can be viewed inside the downtown parking garage at 131 S. 1st Street, on the inside of the garage toward the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
The mural joins other works created by local artists throughout the parking garage and stairwells through the City of Clarksville’s Colors and Concrete initiative, which transforms public concrete spaces into works of community art.
