CLARKSVILLE, TN – Austin Peay State University’s College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics will host its first Science on Tap of the fall semester Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Strawberry Alley Ale Works. Doors open at at 4:30 p.m. and the discussion begins at 5:30 p.m.
Dr. Amanda Stadermann, assistant professor of geology in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, will present “Moon Joy! What We Learn When We Go to the Moon.”
Her talk will cover current lunar exploration, including NASA’s Artemis program, and what the rocks carried back from the Moon reveal about the history of Earth’s nearest neighbor.
Stadermann earned her doctorate at the University of Arizona and worked as a postdoctoral fellow at NASA’s Johnson Space Center before joining Austin Peay. Her research uses mineralogy, petrology and geochemistry to understand how planetary bodies — Earth, the Moon and asteroids — form and evolve.
