CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A former Northeast High School teacher has pleaded guilty to statutory rape by an authority and will serve 9 years in prison.
Steven Allen Hirschi, 35, was arrested on Dec. 16 on three counts of statutory rape by an authority figure, two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of tampering with evidence, according to previous reports.
Between April and May 2025, Hirschi used his “position of power” to accomplish the sexual penetration of the 17-year-old victim, according to the indictment previously obtained by Clarksville Now.
The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System confirmed that Hirschi was hired as a teacher at Northeast High School in November 2018. CMCSS spokesperson Anthony Johnson said the district learned of the allegations in May 2025 and placed Hirschi on alternative worksite, with no student contact allowed during the investigation, according to previous reports.
When reached by Clarksville Now, Johnson said Hirschi was terminated in March. “In late December 2025, law enforcement notified CMCSS that Hirschi had been indicted and arrested,” Johnson said. “While he was on unpaid administrative leave, CMCSS followed the process established in state law to terminate a teacher. He did not appeal and was terminated effective March 2026. CMCSS submitted the initial and final reports regarding a licensed educator under review to the State Board of Education.”
According to a Facebook post by District Attorney General Robert Nash, Hirschi took a guilty plea Monday to statutory rape by an authority figure, a Class B felony, and was sentenced to serve 9 years at 100% in the Tennessee Department of Correction.
Hirschi must also register as a sex offender for life.
