CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Lifelong Clarksville resident John Dewey Robinson has announced his candidacy for Clarksville City Council representing Ward 7.
Born and raised in Clarksville, Robinson has witnessed the city’s transformation into one of Tennessee’s fastest-growing communities. A graduate of the University of Tennessee with a degree in Finance, he currently serves as Director of Operations for Blackhorse Pub & Brewery, helping oversee both the Clarksville and Alcoa locations.
Robinson and his wife, Allison, are raising their young daughter in Clarksville. Robinson said his decision to run stems from a desire to help guide the city’s growth and ensure local government remains focused on the needs of residents. Through his involvement with various local organizations, he has worked alongside community leaders and local businesses to support the city’s continued success.
His campaign will focus on smart growth, infrastructure improvements, responsible development, public safety, and government transparency.
“Our city is growing rapidly, and that growth brings both opportunities and challenges,” Robinson said. “We need leadership that plans ahead, listens to residents, and makes sure our roads, infrastructure, and public services keep pace with the needs of our community.”

Robinson said he will bring a practical, results-oriented approach to city government. Robinson notes that this campaign is about making sure neighborhoods remain strong, city government remains accessible, and quality of life continues to improve for residents.
Over the coming months, Robinson plans to meet with residents of Ward 7 to hear their concerns and discuss the issues most important to them.
“My first priority is listening,” Robinson said. “The people of Ward 7 know the challenges they face every day, and they deserve a council member who hears them and works to address them.”
