HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – Pennyrile Ford will host its second Backpack Food Drive to help families in need.
The free event, which features music, food, and inflatables, will be held Saturday, Aug. 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the dealership on Fort Campbell Blvd. Visitors are asked to bring non-perishable food items as donations.
“The backpack program helps hundreds of local schoolchildren and we’d like to see folks turn out in support,” said Clay Smith, owner of Pennyrile Ford. “We’ll make sure they have a good time while they’re here.”
Activities include:
• Performance by Nashville country artist Jordan Minton
• Photo opp with Beaver 100.3’s mascot
• Drawings for one boy’s and one girl’s bicycle
• Inflatables from Backyard Bouncers
• Drawing for “Country Music Lovers Prize Package” valued at more than $250
• Snacks from Chik-fil-a
The Christian County Schools Backpack Program is coordinated through each school’s family resource center to ensure children do not go hungry on the weekends.
Non-perishable food items are sent home with children in their backpacks. These are usually items children can prepare themselves or eat directly from the package.
“We live in a caring, giving community,” Smith said. “The backpack program is a great example of how we can pitch in to help those in need.”
