CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Collin Parker dominated for the Austin Peay basketball team in 2025-26, and now he’s being rewarded for that incredible season. After previously working out for the Brooklyn Nets and Detroit Pistons, Parker earned a third workout for an NBA franchise – Tennessee’s own Memphis Grizzlies.

Parker averaged 19.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game during his lone season with the Govs and earned First-Team All-ASUN honors and was also voted ASUN Newcomer of the Year. Following the season, Parker was tabbed a finalist for the Riley Wallace Award, given annually to the most impactful transfer in Division-I.

Parker clearly cemented himself as one of the best Govs in recent memory, and NBA teams have taken notice.

Parker looking to become next Gov to make NBA

Even receiving a workout from an NBA team is an accomplishment in itself, so it’s nice to see Parker getting the recognition he deserves. Parker sat down to talk with Clarksville Now last week about his future. At that time, Parker had just wrapped up his workouts with the Nets and Pistons.

“The workouts went really well, and I got some good feedback. They said they liked what they saw, so we’ll see what happens,” Parker previously said. “(I’m) hoping to get some more workouts scheduled.”

Of course, we know now that Parker did in fact have another workout. If Parker receives an opportunity with a NBA franchise, he will become the eighth Gov to play in the NBA or ABA.

The 2026 NBA Draft is slated to take place on June 23 and June 24. If Parker doesn’t get drafted, he hopes to receive an NBA Summer League invite. From there, Parker could earn his way onto a roster with a strong summer showing, like fellow former Gov Terry Taylor was able to do.
