Restaurant Review by Pamela Holz, Tree of Life Center Creative Director and Host of the “Cooking for Life” Show”
There is a new restaurant in Clarksville, and it is causing a bit of a buzz. Located just inside the Liberty Park entrance, Liberty Park Grill overlooks the marina. When it comes to locations, there isn’t a much prettier one for a restaurant. It was built with both indoor and outdoor seating so that the diners can take in the expansive view while enjoying a fresh, made on site food experience.
Excited to try it out, I was surprised to see the prices. Both the location and the look of the restaurant led to me to expect that I would be paying a bit more for a burger or an entrée. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the prices are comparable to the other, less appealing chain restaurants nearby.
It was a beautiful day, so we asked to be seated outside under the covered patio. The bread arrived first, piping hot from the oven with a golden crust sprinkled with a little salt. Our waitress told us that it (along with the rest of their menu items) is made from scratch every day. It tasted like it had just come out of my Grandma’s kitchen.
The Colossal Onion Rings ($7.99) were recommended as being a great starter to share, so my friend and I decided to give them a try. Sweet and savory and crispy, served with a homemade chipotle ranch dressing, there were enough onion rings that we could have skipped the rest of our lunch.
As we enjoyed the onion rings, we admired at all the boats in the marina and soaked in the summer afternoon until our entrées arrived. A friend had recommended the Roasted Chicken Pasta ($12.49) as being amazing, so I decided to give that a try. It was loaded with chicken, sundried tomatoes, mushrooms, broccoli, and spinach on a bed of bowtie pasta all lightly coated in a cream sauce. Delicious, and the portion size was enough to bring half of it home.
My friend ordered the Liberty Park Cheeseburger ($9.49) with fries. The aroma of the burger made me want to look to see where the outdoor grill was located. It really did have the flavor of a home-grilled burger. The fries were seasoned with a salty-herb blend which gave them a great signature taste.
When asked if we would like dessert, we had to say no, but the choices sounded amazing- Crème Brulee Cheesecake, Two Layer Key Lime Pie, Apple Pie, Kahlua Fudge Brownie… With these, and all of the other menu items to explore, Liberty Park Grill looks to become a favorite restaurant.
I am thrilled that we have this fresh arrival to Clarksville. It provides us with a classy new restaurant to take friends and visitors, sharing with them the great things that are happening here in our wonderful city!
