CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – In an update on the progress of Operation Boomer Sooner,  Jim Durrett, in a phone interview with Clarksvillenow.com, said, “We Just unloaded two tractor trailers in less than an hour to some mighty appreciative people”.

Durrett added that they asked a farmer for help with his tractor and then went to Lowe’s and borrowed pallet jacks to unload.

Along with Durrett were Jeff Morrey, Dave Cooper, Bob Golden,  Jeff Truitt, Charlie Koon, Will Wyatt, Tom Creech, Matt Caudilll, Daniel Binkley and  Bo Kitchen.

When asked when they were headed back, Durrett said, “We have a few more chainsaws that we’re dropping off to some residents and then we’re headed back”.

Mission accomplished.

On Friday a group of Clarksville residents collected donations for those affected in Oklahoma, at the old Jostens building,  at the event known as operation “Load the Wagons”.  Supplies collected were then be transported to Oklahoma at 3 a.m. the following day.

Operation Boomer Sooner is currently being supported by many local sponsors as well as residents. Budweiser of Clarksville, a Hand Family Company, is providing the semi truck that the group will use to transport all donated goods, while the Industrial Development Board and Montgomery County are provided the loading site, which is being insured by MSC Insurance. Other sponsors include the Wilma Rudolph UPS Store, Beach Oil Company, McReynolds-Nave & Larson, Rudolph Transfer and Storage, Grace Community Church, Blackhorse Pub & Brewery, ORCA Coolers in Franklin, TN, and Realty South & Susan Schein Automotive in Pelham, Alabama.
