CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – We’re entering another week of conference college basketball, and both of Austin Peay’s teams are in good shape at this point in the 2025-26 regular season.
The men’s team picked up two more conference wins at home last week, while the women’s team notched two more conference wins on the road. Entering this week’s slate, the men’s team is sitting at 13-6 overall and 7-1 in conference play, while the women are 13-5 overall and 5-3 in conference play.
This week won’t be easy for either team, though. The men’s team has two road games, with one at Eastern Kentucky and one at West Georgia. The women’s team has two home games, with one against North Florida and one against Jacksonville.
Now, let’s dive into the preview for all four of this week’s Austin Peay basketball games.
APSU Men’s Basketball
Wednesday, Jan. 28: APSU at Eastern Kentucky
The Governors will tipoff against the Eastern Kentucky Colonels for the second and final time of the regular season on Wednesday night.

The first matchup between these two rivals was electric. That game, at F&M Bank Arena, featured four ties and four lead changes, and the Govs came out on top with a 74-72 victory after a half-court buzzer-beater from the Colonels was waived off.
The Colonels had a tough week last week, going 0-2 in conference play. The first loss came against North Florida, while the second came in an overtime thriller with Jacksonville. The Colonels enter Wednesday’s contest with a 7-14 overall record and a 3-5 mark in conference play.
The Govs have struggled on the road at times this year, and the Colonels have been much better at home. Austin Peay men’s basketball has not won at Eastern Kentucky since the 2020-21 season.
Saturday, Jan. 31: APSU at West Georgia
After playing at Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday, the Govs will head down to take on West Georgia on Saturday.
These two teams have not yet played this season, and the Wolves enter the week with a 10-10 overall record and a 4-4 conference record. This season has been a massive turnaround for the Wolves after they finished the 2024-25 season with a 6-25 record.
Before welcoming in the Govs this weekend, the Wolves will take on Bellarmine on Wednesday. The Govs and Wolves have only played twice in history, with both games happening last season, and the Wolves won both.

APSU Women’s Basketball
Thursday, Jan. 29: APSU vs. North Florida
Austin Peay women’s basketball will play their first game of the week on Thursday night at F&M Bank Arena against the North Florida Ospreys.
This will be the second and final meeting between these teams in the regular season. In the first meeting down in Jacksonville, the Govs dominated from start to finish and walked away with an 80-55 victory.
The Ospreys have lost three of their last four games and are now 7-12 overall and 2-6 in conference play. If the Govs pull off the win, they will improve to 6-3 in conference play and secure a season sweep of the Ospreys.
Saturday, Jan. 31: APSU vs. Jacksonville
The Govs will wrap up this week’s homestand with a game against the Jacksonville Dolphins.
Like the Ospreys, APSU already played the Dolphins once this season and were victorious. In the first matchup, the Govs escaped with a 71-65 win after Mya Williams exploded for 21 points.
This will also be the final matchup of the regular season between these teams, and it’s another chance for the Govs to get a sweep. Before this week’s games get underway, the Dolphins are sitting at 12-7 overall and 4-4 in ASUN play.
The theme for this week will be whether the Govs can get over their struggles at home. The team is an impressive 10-0 on the road but just 3-5 at F&M Bank Arena.
